On January 23-24, 1989, the Movimiento Todos por la Patria (MTP) initiated a 30-hour armed takeover of the La Tablada barracks in Argentina, marking the final major guerrilla operation in the nation's history. The assault resulted in roughly 39 to 47 deaths, including military, police, and MTP militants, and triggered severe accusations of human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings and the use of incendiary weapons by state forces.
