Frederick and Anna Bronski are the leading stars of a Warsaw theater troupe. Their lives are upended by World War II, but the real trouble begins when a young Polish pilot, Andre Sobinski, discovers a spy, Professor Siletski, who possesses a list of resistance members. To save their countrymen, the Bronskis and their actors stage an elaborate deception, using costumes and disguises—including an impersonation of Hitler—to infiltrate Nazi headquarters and neutralize the threat.
