While Alita’s personal motifs (like those in "Discovery" or "I Don't Even Know My Own Name") are typically delicate and melodic to represent her human brain, "Motorball" represents her "warrior within" being unleashed in a digital, mechanical environment.

Unlike the more acoustic cues in the score, "Motorball" is heavy on electronics and synthesizers, providing a "driving sound" that fans of Holkenborg's work on Mad Max: Fury Road will find familiar.

It features a "heavy beat" characterized by hard-hitting, "bludgeoning" percussion. Holkenborg used a massive array of drums, including surdos and tupans, to create a "snappy" sound with heavy attack, mixed similarly to a rock or metal drum kit.

The track serves as a crescendo for the album, releasing the tension built up in previous cues like "Double Identity" and "In the Clouds". Production Techniques Alita: Battle Angel – Tom Holkenborg - Soundtrack World

The track is designed to mirror the "up and down" kinetic energy of a Motorball game, shifting between relentless aggression and atmospheric grandeur.
